Propaganda. What makes me wonder is how this relates to official Communist Party policy at the moment, or if this is essentially some part of PLA doing its own thing. I don’t claim to understand China but I’m under the impression that the PLA, like many armies (though not ours), is not entirely under the control of the ultimate political authority, at least when it comes to small things like this.

I don’t remember the stat exactly, but a family member of mine worked on the Boeing side of the jsf competition.
He told me once that a raptor can go from stop (don’t remember if it was arrested on the ground like they did in the streak eagle videos) to super sonic at take off in something like 15 or 20 seconds or some retarded number. F119 engines are legit power.
Another fun raptor fact is that they aren’t exactly sure how fast they could fly if the flight control didn’t limit top speed. (I’m sure someone in the universe knows)
They utilize a fixed intake instead of a variable ramp for stealth. The flight control limits to speed. If a variable intake were used, theory is that the raptor “could potentially” fly mach 3, since max air speed is governed instead of wide open uncontrolled top speed.
I say let the usa and the chicoms go into a cold war. The last one changed mankind with unbelievable technology that was created by the space and arms race.
