Chiappa .22LR dedicated upper??

Hi, all I have used the search function to no avail, so if i did miss something please point me in the right direction. Also if i didnt post in the right spot.

To the point, I am looking into a .22lr conversion for my DDM4V2 and came across this http://store.chiappafirearms.com/products/cartridge-firearms/rifles/m4-conversion-kit/m4-conversion-kit.html

Has anyone ever had hands on experience with this company? and more importantly this unit. It seems cheap for a dedicated upper? Thoughts, comments, concerns encouraged

Thanks,
CO

I’m probably a little biased but from what I have learned from guys that own them, I would invest a little more and get better quality. Also, customer service appears to be non existant.

appreciate the reply, and I can agree with you. I cant find enough info on the company or product to believe its worth the savings.
Thanks, CO

A buddy bought their 1911 look a like in .22 LR . He’s happy with it but I’d never buy one. It just look and felt ‘Cheap’ . The thing just struck me as something that would fall apart in your hand eventually.

I would look at a better quality settup as well. Buy once cry once.

I’ve had the Chiappa upper for about 3 years. I purchased it from AIM. I shoot it occasionally with good results, using mostly Federal 525 and CCI Blazer bulk pack. Probably about 1K rounds so far.

Mine runs, and runs well. It may have had a few malfs, but I do not recall any and anyway, I expect a few malfs with bulk-pack rimfire. The plastic upper was not confidence-inspiring but then again, it’s a .22LR plinker/trainer, not a duty-grade weapon.

I was very excited to get it, since I greatly enjoy plinking and competing with my other .22LRs (boyhood beater rifle, Romanian M1969 military trainer, Ruger 10/22, Marlin 60, Ruger MKII). However, I anticipate selling the Chiappa soon. I intended it to be a training tool but IMHO, I’ve found that its utility in that role is very limited. Sure, I can practice mounting and getting the first pair off, but the balance, grip (carbine HGs vs my “real” middies), and recoil management are very different, and it is useless for practicing malfunction drills and reloads.

ETA: For the $300 I paid for it, I could have been darn near a quality value upper like a PSA or a used Spikes, or 1500 rds of Wolf, or another class.

Another reason I like the CMMG. All functions and weight are there, minus the recoil of course.
Plus the complete uppers start at close to the price of the Chiappa.

$349? For another $60 or so you can pick up a S&W 15-22.

I agree with Dave on the CMMG upper- very pleased with mine after 700+ rounds. I’ve only had issues (5 stovepipes) with Fed. bulk (Walmart) ammo. With CCI & Win. it has been flawless. I’ve got it setup like my Spikes M4LE. The difference is a Bushnell RDS (dot in circle) instead of the EOTech 552 on my ST 5.56. So I’m getting lots of practice with a similar handling weapon.

I’ve only handled the Chiappa upper at my local GS; and, neither I nor my dealer was impressed.
