Changing up workouts

I have a new job, so I have “extra” time in the morning. Up to now, because of time constraints, my workouts have been boot campish/HIIT (think “Spartan” WOD), some moderate running, and some time in the gym (total body, medium weight). If you had an extra day or two, what would you add, or change? My goal is weight maintenance/fat loss (that proverbial last 10 pounds), general fitness and well-being.

I finally found a gym with good sled, so come Sept 1 I’m going to give Will’s sled program a try. Info here: https://www.m4carbine.net/showthread.php?153510-The-BrinkZone-Sled-Centric-Program!

I’ve found before when cutting that while time consuming, walking on a treadmill at a good incline and decent clip can help you burn up quite a few calories. If fat loss is what you’re going for that’s not a bad way to kill an hour.

I HATE seeing people do this. Horrible advice. An hour? Problem being most people hang onto the treadmill the whole time. If you can’t do it with your arms at your side, then you can’t do it. Mechanically, at some point you’re better, more effecient w/ less joint stress, jogging slowly vs. walking fast. But, I digress…

For that last 10lbs, I’ve found that I always loose more weight doing high intensity stuff vs just slogging miles. I’m 6’-3" in the 186-189lb range, so I don’t have a lot to loose. I’ve had the most sucess with cutting the last couple of pounds by working harder as opposed to working longer. The issue in giving this advice to someone else is that most people don’t work out hard enough, not because they are lazy, but just that they aren’t aware of their personal performance range.

OK, so I have the extra day or two. What do you recommend?
