Can I switch the front sight post between an F marked and non-F marked? Thanks.
If you are talking about the post, the yes you can but I would question why. If you are talking about the entire front sight base asembly, that is a much more ivolved process. You would have to find a non “F” marked FSB blank and have it drilled and pinned to match your barrel. That probably won’t be very cheap. The only resason to do this I can think of would be if you are changing over to a non flat top upper.
Sight posts are the same.
The threads were longer on the non-F post, but it still fit.
The non-F post was tapered, so it was more narrow at the top. I wanted that on my new barrel because it would be more precise.

Yep. The threading should go all the way through the FSB. Some people run a set screw up the bottom to lock their sight post into position.
I like the Colt Carbine (tapered) front sight posts too.
I have an Olympic arms barrel which came with the non F front site. Are you saying that I will have problems changing that out to a gas block some day? I really didn’t plan on keeping this on the barrel. I was just going to change it out in the next couple months.
But I’ll be peeved if I can’t because it uses proprietary mounting locations.
