Cerberus to aquire Heckler & Koch?

I read that Cerberus, the large firm who recently bought Bushmaster, Remington, Cobb Manufacturing, and DPMS, will be buying or has already bought Heckler & Koch. Has anyone else heard this rumor? I know it’s just a rumor at this point, so take it with a grain of salt. It would be interesting though if it were true.

Crap, I just noticed I spelled acquire wrong. Whoops.

I know there were talks with at least one other major conglomerate within the industry. H&K seems like a foster child, constantly getting bounced from one new home to another.

Yikes! I don’t own any H&K stuff, but the idea of one conglomerate buying up weapons companies does not bode well. A monopoly is never a good thing and all it will take to screw things up is one board of bean counters bowing to (inter)national pressure to clamp down on our choices, instead of many.

Please let this be true. One of the owners of Cerberus is a certifiable gun nut™ and this may go a long way toward reversing HK’s self-destructive management and corporate culture along with the “Vat makes you sink you are vurthy uff ownink a firearm” attitude toward civilian gun owners. I think Cerberus’ acquisitions are going to have long term positive effect on the gun industry.

If it is true and if it gets HK to sell to civies it would be nice. But since I was told there is now a Remington AR, I just don’t think I could buy a Remington 416.

Wasn’t Remington bought by FN or by who ever owns FN?

Nope.

Cerebus (sp?) is a multi-billion dollar holding company. It owns Remington, Bushmaster, Marlin, Chrysler, and a few dozen other companies. 99% positive the do not own FN

they own chrysler and a buncha gun companies…

dodge magnum… chrysler crossfire… dodge caliber…

I have not heard that one but it would not surprise me. I will say that it is VERY possible that you may hear of this company buying (an)other well known gun companies in the near future.

Yeah, there was chatter back in October that they were in early negotiations with Glock due to Herr Gaston’s reported (alleged?) $300M tax bill.

Just read that we could possibly hear something about this during or after SHOT. Also read that the going price for H&K was somewhere in the ballpark of $125,000,000. Take it for what it’s worth.

Are we talking HK USA, or Heckler and Koch GmbH?

If it’s HK USA, that would be inconsequential other than the positive of them not being owned by a middle east country.

If it’s the main wing, that would be great as their management would be better served as insurance risk analyzers rather than head honchos at a firearm company.

of all the names i ve heard, imo Glock would be the manufacturer that would be would be most profitable. imagine the possibilities, a glock is on the hip of the majority of all law enforcement.

Do you have any idea who owns/runs Cerberus?

Cerberus is a holding company owned by a financial institution; it exists for no reason other than to buy & own other companies as investments.

BTW, confirmed with multiple people at HK today that talks with Cerberus never made it past the initial discussion stage; there will be no sale to Cerberus at this time.

I doubt this. Cerberus has a habit of buying companies that aren’t at the top of the industry or are going through rough times. Buying HK, at this point especially, would seem very weird to me.

George Bush Sr is on the BOD and Dan Quayle has been heavily involved in the company. Multi billion $ holding company that buys companies in bad shape and tries to turn them around. They’re pretty diverse in their holdings.

The non .mil wing of HK isnt doing so hot thats why they kep getting sold off.

If they would stop their stupid policies they wouldnt have troubles

It’s becoming a SMALL world indeed…
