Already have the Zenith MKE 43P so I’m good on the 33k.
Do I need another G3/91 in my safe? Maybe…
I wonder if Century will mark them up $1k over the competion (in the case of the G3/91), then drop the price the price by $1k a year later. Either way, more options is mo’ better.
The link isn’t working for me, but if Century is going to import these what would justify adding anything to the price over a PTR? century isn’t known for quality.
mil-spec parts and barrels “IF” MKE builds them to spec.
I’m interested. Love my Century-imported MKE AP-5.
Would be a little torn between a 5.56 or .308, though.
PTR has FMPs tooling, but they don’t build barrels to spec. I still haven’t gotten the definite word if their GI model is CHF to HK specs or not. They initially tried to improve the design to make it more accurate which resulted in across the board feeding issues. Not sure how / if they got that 100% fixed.
With Century you have to remember this.
Some guns they IMPORT, there is nothing wrong with these guns. This includes things like C&R guns and early thumbhole stock Romanian AKs.
Some guns they IMPORT and make 922r compliant. This includes things like WASRs where they modify magazine wells and add 922r compliant parts. Low grade 922r compliant parts and z grade manufacturing standards make these problematic.
Some guns are part kit builds, these are usually poor condition part kits often combined with low quality receivers. The poor condition of the parts kit used, combined with low grade 922r compliant and z grade manufacturing standards make these problematic. Even when they built some Steyr Stg58 kits onto Imbel receivers, which usually results in an excellent rifle, they used kits in fair to poor condition and the 922r compliance parts (usually fire control, followers and floorplates) were some z grade pot metal quality junk that resulted in a crap grade rifle.
Sometimes they have farmed out projects, like when they built Stainless Steel receiver CETME’s, but they let Special Weapons do the build so again the were junk with huge spec problems.
Delete.
PTRs, to the best of my knowledge, don’t use CHF barrels. That said, after the break-in period, my current PTR has been solid. My previous one was good to go right out of the box.
As for Century, yes, their pure imports are fine, but unless I don’t understand the law as well as I think I do, any G3 or similar design will not be a pure import. They’ll have to do something to it to make it 922r compliant, and there lies the initial problem; Century almost certainly will find a way to screw that up.
If Century imports them as pistols like B&T, and leaves 922r to the consumer, they may be able to avoid touching them, save a import mark.
If the price is right replacing Century’s 922r parts would not be a big deal.
This is exactly what is being done with their MP5’s made in Turkey. All are 100% MKE made pistols.
Hoping they bring in a G3k pistol.
Hoping to use my stash of 93/33 mags bought in 90s. Hope they remain true as it would be nice to have a choice & no regrets /issues.
Needs a can. Not sure how that the bolt / recoil system will like that.
I have a 16 in .308 and it’s pretty loud. I always double ear pro but it still sounds about the limit of “safe”.
So I already had a 51 and a 51B, trust me a G3k would be no biggie.
I’m hoping to use the pile of 91 mags that I bought back in the 90’s. A friend has an SR9. I could never justify the price of a 91 and all the other options since have seemed below grade. Perhaps this will fit the bill. I have a MKE made Zenith Z-43 that’s now a SBR. It’s great. My strategy with the Century imports is to wait 6 months to a year before buying. This will allow the price to come down and will hopefully allow the to iron out their issues if the must 922(r) them.
Sound logic. While I don’t wanna be the 1st to buy something new, I don’t necessarily want to wait too long if I like it. Knowing the Century & MKE “history” makes me cautious but a risk I’ll have to take. I’m thinking after a few months on the market. Providing of course the prices are not jacked up, then it’ll be wait the year out. The day I pick one up it’s going directly to the range for testing all around. Those “orphaned” 33/53/93 mags sat around at a local pawn shop until they closed back in the 90s are gonna get loaded up the night before along with an optic / mount combo. Any major issues w/Gun and back it goes ASAP! No one likes a “pig in poke” lol
Erdogan needs the money. They will build anything with a stocking order.
Does Century have enough intelligence to figure this out.
I will be all over a 33 or 33k. I let my 93 go long ago and I need a heavy ass 556 to go with my 550.
