CCW/PSD Vest Input For IWB or OWB

Did a search here & unless my search-fu is weak, failed to find any info re. CCW or PSD vest options. Have some 6+ from years

past w/ different weights for different seasons/WX & looking at updating w/ a newer product. Would like to get input on options

from summer all the way to winter w/ water resistant certainly in the mix. Couldn’t decide if this should be posted in this

subforum or not, sure a mod will step up if they know a better location. Alright fellas, throw some knowledge this way.

If I have to wear a vest for some reason in the summer this is the one I wear. It does not look tactical. Tuff as nails and pockets inside and out and in back. The only bitch I have for it is the right shoulder pocket has no flap so using a rifle or shotgun you get the usual toe in the pocket problem. I intend on having a flap and snap stitched on… someday;)

M4F I had completely overlooked the Filson options before my post, thx for jarring the memory.
Hesitated on the PSD mention in this thread but some that I know in this line of work (CONUS)
use a vest that was originally marketed for the CCW crowd.

Hard to believe that M4F is the only response so far, guess I need to give LF a shot.

Could it be that not many here CCW or possibly use a vest to conceal their primary?

Most do not use a vest is my bet. When I lived in the Rockies everyone wore a vest (non-tactical) because vests were just everyday wear by the grass eaters or the meat eaters and so OWB was easy. For IWB most do not wear a vest. Also vests in non-vest climate really make you stand out, especially if it is a tactical vest.

In MT you could see OWB holsters sticking out from under shirts, vest, jackets at the grocery store and everyone knew what they were and no one cared. It is MT culture. When I moved to Denver area this would never fly. Now in Austin this would really never fly. I conceal based on the cultural surroundings. In MT I often carried a 629 MntGun OWB with a vest or jacket because that day I was going to be roaming bear country. If I printed or flashed accidently some one might say, “Nice gun” other areas (Austin or Denver) they might scream or call 911.

If you are in an area where local LEOs have a hard on for busting CCW carries I would avoid a vest and try and do more than just “conceal” as the local law states, but “truly conceal” so that no one could guess you “might” have a gun on you.

I wear Arcteryx vests alot as they are very fashionable and fake out the grass eaters and lefty LEOs. Color of vest helps, darker conceals better. I wear leather jacket often and they are terrible as they print badly and I have to be more careful about bending over, etc.

If your cultural environment allows a tactical type vest then just get what you like otherwise avoid them. IMHO:)

Scottevest has a bunch of clothing items that may be of interest.

The vest in the website pics look like they would be a bit short for owb carry. Have you tried it out?
