CASV-el Ideal optics

I have heard that the CASV-El rail will limit my optics choices… can anyone out there give me the best recommendations for this rail?

Thanks,
Bc

There is only one real limitation and that is Eotechs because the iron sights won’t clear the optic height.

Aimpoints, RMR’s and MRDS models have mounting options that will work with the CAS-V without issue.

ADM makes a mount for the T1 and that allows co-witnessing

I wanted to get an ACOG… I have a Eotech with magnifier on it now… I have no issue with it and really like it! I am going to move that to my ACR and buy something new for the AR I have. I would really like an ACOG option. Thoughts?

This is correct. Anything other than an Eotech will co-witness just fine with the proper spacer. Heck the inexpensive Vortex Sparc comes with the proper spacer.
I ran an Eotech and didnt care about it.

I am now on the hunt for another CASV. Damn hard to find these days.

Not hard at all. I’ve gone back and forth on the CAS-V many times and they always seem to have stock at DSG.

Not sure how much higher the CASV puts the optic over the rail but it looks like it would be similar to the old ARMS SIRS that I used to run before I sold it because it was a damn beast of a system. Anyway, if you have anything that is 1/3 cowitness on a bare rail than it is likely going to be much too high. I did run an ACOG on the ARMS rail for a while and can say that it did not place it too high and for the most part you were fine unless you really buried your face into the stock. If the CASV is the same height then an ACOG should work for the most part, not ideal, but workable.
