I’ve been running both of my carbines with Surfire’s (6PX Tac and G2X Tac) in Gear Sector mounts @ the 11’oclock position. I really like the setup. However, price has gone up since I initially bought them 2 years ago and now instead of a $90-$100 light package, it’s like a $140+ light package. That’s enough of a difference for me to consider alternatives, such as the M952V and such that you can find used for $180. In other words, is the G2X/Gear Sector combo still pretty good or would I be getting that much more performance from the M952V or one of the scout lights for similar money?

ETA: Oops, I just re-read my post and didn’t make it clear. I’m not changing out anything I currently have. I still love those. The deal is, I stole the one off my 14.5" carbine for my Benelli M1 and so I need a replacement for the carbine.
I have this light on my 12.5" carbine and it is fantastic. Much smaller and lighter than a 952V and at 500 lumens the P2X outshines the 952V and all the Scout lights while producing plenty of spill to aid SA.
I have to say, the Fury rocks as a carbine light. I have an older G2X (200 lumen), and while the Fury isn’t really twice as bright, its brighter spill and the fact that you can light up a target at 150 is quite nice.
+1 for Fury here as well. I just don’t see the more expensive lights (read: Elzetta) worth their premium when the EAG Fury does the same thing at a better price point.
Need a similar mount as the 6PX or G2X (may be the same, but don’t hold me to it).
I have the 6PX on my AR and the Fury as my handheld (my girlfriend also has one). I got the 6PX before the Fury was released, but it works good enough for a weapon light.
The 500 Lumens is bright! Very easy to blind yourself, so I’d definitely consider that before picking. If I had to pick again, I’d probably go with the Fury. The low setting can really work well, and then you have another super bright mode. Unsure about the other light variations, being I have mine setup to run with the button, using my support thumb. For me, running it as either a weapon or handheld light is a plus for me.
Works for me in a plain-jane VTAC mount. I have it mounted over the tailcap, allowing for easy activation with my thumb-over-bore grip, as well as reduced barrel shadow. Disadvantage: allen wrench needed to change batteries.
I was asking around about the tail caps on the furys yesterday… Which one is that because I saw a fury my friend had to and he was sure his was the EAG.

I couldnt tell you, it was just the one that came with the G2X back in 2010. I carry a Surefire 6PX on duty with a shrouded tail cap that came with it.
