Does anyone make a cleaning kit that can be stored in the storage tubes prevalent on many carbine stocks? I would like to have the ability to carry an actual cleaning rod vs. the cable pulls of the Otis kits or a Boresnake in the tubes in case of a bullet stuck in the bore, but the GI rod sections are too long to fit the tubes found on Vltor EMOD/IMOD, Magpul ACS, and LMT SOPMOD stocks. There are short rod sections available from Otis, but they provide one per kit and I don’t want to buy five or six kits to make one kit that will match what I am looking for.
I have seen that fix and ones like it, but I’m looking for something a little more secure and snag-resistant, hence the desire for something that fits in the tubes.
Ever seen Kyle Defoor’s method?

Not sure you’ll find anything else out there…you MIGHT be able to buy those otis sections individually straight from the site
I’ve used a Method similar to Defoor’s for quite some time and in combat. The immediacy of access is a huge benefit over other methods of storage, and if executed correctly is very snag resistant.
Just checked the Otis site, they now sell individual components which is a change from the last time I checked. Still wish the sections were about an inch longer to fill out the tube better and to allow me to push from the breech if necessary. I suppose I’ll make it work somehow, though.
Anyone aware of rod sections that are 4.5 to 5 inches long before I place the order for these 3.5 inch sections?

I carry one on my kit for obstructed barrels. The handle is too wide to keep in the stock but just keep it on your kit. It takes half a second to reach into a pouch and pull it out.
Nothing wrong with what Kyle Defoor does either…his method probably is a bit faster. I used to do something similar for the M14 EBR’s when stuck cases were extremely common…but not sure how well it would work if you wanted to collapse the stock and mortar the gun. Haven’t used the method with an AR myself so I can’t say for sure.

F2S, my biggest problem with both Kyle Defoor’s and Kyle Lamb’s techniques are I have a DD RIS II on my carbine and the rail attachment ring completely blocks the area where the rod lies, so it interferes with the location where the rod would lie securely and unobtrusively.
a0cake, I saw that in a comment on the Defoor thread posted earlier, but the entire thing won’t fit in the tube.
I keep it on my belt. It’s easier to get to something on your belt than inside your stock. Especially if what’s inside your stock is made up of a bunch of short pieces that you have to screw together. I’m not trying to knock your idea man but why not just put extra batteries in your stock? It just makes more sense. The compartments are waterproof. Matters for batteries, doesn’t matter for cleaning rods. Keep a regular 3 piece rod or the Rapid Rod on your kit. Just my spin. Do what you like, obviously.
My hang-up is, I want it on the rifle because that’s always with me. I try to keep my belt clean when I wear my IOTV, so it would go on my vest. However, my MOS usually requires me to take off my IOTV to look less threatening, so now it’s with my vest and not me. I’m making it more difficult by trying to be simple, you know? 
Why not find a way to pack a 3-piece rod with your spare magazines?
You’re going to have spare magazines with you in any situation where you might need a rod, and you’re not going to have them all attached to the rifle, are you?
I’m not playing dumb, I’m just trying to understand…
I keep a 3-piece rod in the butt of my walnut-stocked M14, in the compartment designed for it, but really only because the weight helps to balance out the heavy barrel.
All this reminds me that I should get at USGI 3-piece steel rod for my range bag…

You could always secure two shorter sections to just the rail. Similar to Kyle Defoor’s method, but it wouldn’t extend beyond the rail. It might take a little finagling to get it secured, but then it stays on the gun.
A cleaning rod cut into 5 pieces would fit in an ACS, it tried fit my 4 piece rod but it wouldn’t fit in the ACS.
