Carbine cleaning

i read pat rogers sticky about cleaning but i was unsure what to use for the actual cleaning part, i’ve heard mention of carbon killer but i’m not sure this is what i need for cleaning but rather occasional treatment. anyone here use slip 2000 products know which would be preferred for cleaning the rifle? i read 725cleaner somewhere, would that be correct? or should i use the carbon killer on patches? also i ordered some of that extreme weapons lubricant instead of the slip 2000 lube, sounds like lubricant thats aimed at black rifles.

Tinman,
I use the 725 and it works well. I use it to spray on parts, soak a little while then scrub with nylon brush and then wipe off. I use TW25B and Militec. The Slip 2000 lube is good. Pat uses it and he sees alot of crap. What ever lube you use get some on all the parts as the 725 degreases and leaves the metal in prime oxidation condition.

Good luck.

Here is what works for me: https://www.m4carbine.net/showthread.php?t=5249

I do not carry any Slip products (Yet), but my good friend Paul at Bravo Company does.

I use the 725 to apray down the BCG and then wipe it off with a shop towel. From there I soak the disassembled BCG in the Carbon Cutter (actually, the Shotgun Choke Tube/Piston cleaner, but it’s the same stuff). The Carbon Cutter comes with some hangers that you can suspend your bolt in the solution. I use a tea ball/infuser for the small parts and I just rotate the carrier about halfway through so all of it gets soaked.

After soaking 10 minutes or so wipe off with another shop towel. Lube right afterwards since the 725 and Carbon Cutter will strip any lube/preservative previously applied to the parts.

I also use the 725 on a shop towel wrapped around a Sinclair action cleaning brush to clean the upper receiver. That works lickety split.

Similar to Grants tray, I used to soak my entire bolt group in a mixture of Hoppes #9 and mineral spirits. I now soak only my bolt and FP in BF CLP. The rest of the bolt carrier gets the q-tip and CLP soaked patch for clean up.
