I’m a LE instructor so I go looking to both build my own skill and pick up whatever I can to bring back to the people I teach.
All of my firearms training is family/home defense oriented. The fact that I find it an enjoyable & challenging activity is secondary.

I meant to include a “professional development” option for LE and military.

Ah…I was going to suggest adding “professional”. I check “skill development” and “home defense” (in that order). But I’m also an LE instructor, so I train for the same reasons as BobM. It’s also a good equipment/loadout check.
Sign me up for the Professional Development. But I figure this base is my house so that qualifies too

General, generic, skill-building for enjoyment
Home defense with minor in SHTF.
Skill building, followed by the ability to shoot competition better.
All of the above with the last choice Competition shooting.
Not much going in in CT.
Skill development and home defense. In that order.
I enjoy being able to take a piece of equipment weather it be a car, a bike, a frying pan or a gun, and be as proficient as possible with it. It just so happens that I like to shoot more than I cook so the frying pan is sorely lacking in skill development as of late. The ability to defend ones self comes along with those skills when applied to specific scenarios.
Now the BBQ grill on the other hand… I should teach a class!
Turns out that polls can be edited. “MIL/LE professional development” added.
What will bake my noodle is the requests to change answers. If somebody wants to change their answer, lemme know. I’m inclined to just do a complete re-set of the thread, in that circumstance, instead of futilely attempting to confirm that the requestor isn’t just dicking around.
Work mostly, then everything after that, except competition.

Several poll choices were calling to me, but I went with home defense.
Although I do love getting better with my firearms.
I could have chosen several of the options. I carry a carbine at work, but also have one at home for defense/SHTF/Armageddon.
