Our northern brothers refused to comply with the last round of restrictions, and did it so well that the government had to roll back the laws. Trudeau is just posturing.

None of my Canadian relatives complied last time, I doubt they will this time. They were quite vocal about it too. I admired them greatly as they pushed back and ultimately won.
No worries about dressing as an East German Army officer. For one most voters would have no idea what the uniform was, and if it were revealed all the leftists would totally vote for you. Heck, run as a totalitarian leftist and wear the uniform to your campaign rallies… all the Bernie-Bros will love you while you make impassioned speeches promising to send the capitalists to the gulag.
At first I had no idea who that was, thought maybe it was Bradley Manning playing dress up. Then it dawned on me that’s the leader of Canada. Or at least some claim it is.

I think the chief issue with the East German uniform would not be the ideology that it represents so much as the uniform’s close resemblance to the uniforms used by Germany from c. 1939 to 1945.
I had to clarify many times that day that it was a post-WW2 uniform, and the “Hitler Youth” jokes from my coworkers continued for months after that, but, I’ll admit, I knew full well my costume would be mistaken for something else. I’ve always been a bit of a troll at heart.
The things you could get away with in 2003 are unfortunately not the same things you can get away with in 2018 though.
I begin to think if a total ban happens in this country people will simply ignore it and be careful not to admit to or show off their stuff to the wrong people. The drug war hasn’t exactly stopped people from smoking pot, has it?
So the govt is running a program to see if it should give itself more power… wonder how that ends…
