Was looking on the surefire website and it says theirs a hole to pin and weld the new surefire muzzle breaks for the socom suppressers. Does anyone know if the new Surefire flash hiders for the socom suppressers can be blind pined and welded also? Looking to cut down my 16in to 14 1/2 and blind pin and weld the flash hider.
Yes they can be. Cut to 14" though, these things are long.
Roger Thanks
If you’re going through the trouble of cutting a barrel down, buy whatever Surefire muzzle device you want. In the instructions there is a mechanical drawing of how to cut the threads so they time perfectly w/o washers.
Yes, Surefire’s newest generation of muzzle brakes and flash hiders feature a pre-drilled pilot hole located BDC (Bottom Dead Center), for those that wish to permanently attach their muzzle device. It’s not only to make it easier on the smith to pin and weld , or to offer a visual reference in clocking the device, but to control where the device is pinned. It seems that some smiths have improperly pinned legacy muzzle devices, which may not be a problem if your not running with a can, but could cause a problem if the smith choose the bearing surface between the adapter and suppressor.
Before chucking it in a lathe, here’s a drawing you or your gunsmith will need to create the proper shoulder required to use the flash hider/brake without peel washers.
