Can non-LE get 5.56 TAP ?

Is it possible for non-LE people like myself to get 5.56 TAP 75gr anywhere?

I promise I won’t do crime with it.

Thanks!

I suppose so. I’ve seen it for sale on gunshop shelves. Haven’t bought any yet, don’t have the right twist rate for that heavy, gonna get some of the 55 gr TAP loads.

Thanks, but those are .223. The 5.56 TAP is higher pressure/velocity, and I think Hornady markets it only to LE.

G&R Tactical can likely assist you.

I just bought some last week here http://ammunitiontogo.com/catalog1/product_info.php?pName=200rds-556-hornady-tap-75gr-bthp-t2-ammo&cName=223-556-hollow-point-ammo

Yes, it is. Try G. And R. Tactical.

Try G&R as the are a sponsor here, if they can’t do it, then try ammunitiontogo.com, but I bet Grant can hook you up.

I’m a dealer in Southern Illinois. I get and sell all the TAP ammo. Its out there but gotta scrounge for it. Its a good seller. Mostly sell 55gr.

5.56 pressure 75 grain TAP

1 case (200 rounds) of Hornady (Product #8126N) 5.56 pressure 75 grain TAP. Lot from 2005. Headstamped “Frontier” instead of “Hornady”. These are also polished as opposed to more recent production that does not have the annealing polished off. $195 $190

Call Hornady, speak to the LE sales folks and see if you can buy it on a letterhead order.

John

do you still have 8126n tap available or a source? if so call 267-580-0846

Yes, you can. But, I think based on the OP question he is not L.E. FYI- military and DoD contractors can also purchase direct from them as well as I bought 400 rds. last month. You have to sign a waiver stating that you understand that the ammo is intended for 5.56mm weapons, yada, yada, yada.

I’ve seen it on retail shelves…

I bought a little from Ammunition to go, but it’s too expensive to test fire or shoot.

It’s more of a decoration in my gun cabinet.

The place I have gotten red box TAP from has only had the 223 75gr red box in stock :frowning:
