I am looking at buying this magnifier from a guy for $100.00. Does anybody know what kind it is, or is it worth $100.00 used. These are actual pictures of it. Seems kind of a cheap price, what do the optic buffs think on the forum? I probably need to move fast if this is quality, fast response is much appreciated.
P.S. I will be using this with an Aim-point Comp4. Thanks!
It looks like a Mako 3x, 4x or 5x. $100 might be overpaying for that. Even the 5x can be had for $110.
Looks like a Primary Arms 3x with QD mount. That combo goes for about $100 new. Ask the seller if there’s a serial # which starts with PA on the magnifier.
I just bought that magnifier with straight mount combo used for $75 shipped, try to talk the guy down.
Glass is clear, Primary Arms claim their magnifiers are nitrogen purged.
The centerline is 1.5" for the magnifier in that mount. I used in conjunction with my Aimpoint M4 in Larue high mount (centerline 1.75’) just to sight in the Aimpoint. Not an ideal set up but works in a pinch.
That magnifier is fine for bench shooting. Not recommended for duty rifle.
I sent another email and the guy called me, he bought it at a gun show and thought it might be a mako 3x. I found some online for around 100.00. I think I will pass unless he can lower the price a lot. What do ya’ll think about the H&K one from cheaperthandirt for $15.00? How hard is it to remove the ranging reticle inside the scope? Would it purge the scope and then make it fog up a lot? Thank you for all your help.
Does any one else have an opinion on this magnifier? I am planning to order a x5 magnifier, but do not have 4 or 5 hundred dollars to spend. There are decent reviews on Primary Arms magnifiers…but, I don’t know if any of the magnifiers reviewed were tested over time, or just 1 trip to the range and then reviewed. Is this a better magnifier than a Mako?
Not sure about Primary Arms but I have the Mako 5x (which looks pretty much just like the one pictured here) and use it with an EOtech 552. Saw it sitting in a local gun shop and it came with an EOtech flip to side mount (with QD) for not much more than what I would have to pay for a flip to side mount itself so I figured I’d give it a shot.
Works fine so far. Not using my AR for any LE/Military duty use so didn’t need top quality.
I saw one review of a Mako falling apart on the inside after 200 rds, I don’t know if that was a defect or what, but they are cheap, and I have no experience with either. The Primary Arms are supposed to be nitrogen purged, and waterproof. I wonder if there is a difference in quality between the two brands.

I’d pass. Try to find the H&K Hendsolt or save up for an actual Aimpoint mag. I haven’t found a mount yet that allows me to line up good with my AimPoint C3. And cant find one that allows me to co-wittness. Pass.
Has anyone had any experience with the Burris tripler? It is almost at the mid point for price.
The LaRue re-furb’ed Hensoldt 2 1/2x Po’Boys were a good deal . Might be able to find one used. They are marked Hensoldt over Wetzlar on the rubber eyepiece.
