Cam pin gouging

Hello all, first of all let me say what a fine forum you guys have going on. It’s a great wealth of information for beginners like myself.

With that said, I have an issue I was hoping you guys could help me with. I bought a Colt LE6920 brand new recently and have fired exactly 200 rounds of Federal (bulk from Wally World) 223 through it.

As I mentioned, I am new to the carbine world but upon cleaning I noticed some slight gouging on the cam pin. Upon closer inspection this does not appear normal to me. I did not notice any uneven wear anywhere else on bolt or the bolt carrier.

Can anyone confirm/disprove any issues with this? I have enclosed a photo for inspection.

What is the remedy for this assuming this is not normal?

Perfectly normal.

After you have 3-5000 rounds through it you might want to swap a new one in it for good PM.

Normal, it’s a wear item. Change it out every 3K rounds. Also if you mark it with a punch so that it goes into bolt the same way everytime it’ll last a little longer.

Normal, but looks like hell.

Get a chromed one and all it does is get shinier. I believe I got mine from DPMS on Commercial Row at Camp Perry during the Nationals.
