The fact there is not a trade embargo against china shows that we don’t actually care what we stand for and any punitive actions against other countries is selective and not based on morals but money.

Granting China Permanent Normal Trade Relations and China entering the World Trade Organization was/is the issue. PNTR was signed into law by Bill Clinton with overwhelming support of the bill by republicans while democrats overwhelmingly opposed. China receiving the lowest tariff rates applied to any other U.S. trading partner was part of the reason for Trump’s efforts to remedy with emergency tariffs that the SC recently struck down.
This is how it was presented to American voters: “Economically, this agreement is the equivalent of a one-way street. It requires China to open its markets—with a fifth of the world’s population, potentially the biggest markets in the world—to both our products and services in unprecedented new ways,” said Clinton.
Of course we all now know that the economic “one-way street” was actually in the opposite direction of what Clinton and republicans were selling to American voters.

I’ve always thought that one day we’ll wake up and all the Chinese restaurants will be closed but bridges, overpasses, electrical grids, etc. would be taken down. Ever see an old Chinese person working at one of their restaurants? I haven’t, just military-aged males and their concubines.
