California Governor Jerry Brown Vetoes Semi-Auto Rifle Ban. Yes, That Jerry Brown.

Unless your gay, transgender, lesbian, illegal et al… lol

CA is a great place for civil rights. Just not 2A rights. If you’re gay, trans whatever, or have two dicks and tits, its a fabulous place to be yourself.

There was no victory.

Amen. I was stuck in CA for one year (last year) and that was more than enough.

Back on topic, I really do wish that a law suit would be undertaken by the NRA against the CA government. This is a fight that needs to be won.

AFIK the NRA had a lawsuit already lined up against the new AWB provisions, should they have passed.

There are a lot of other lawsuits that are lingering in limbo hell. One of them I’ve been interested in is Pena vs. Cid, which challenges CA’s roster of “safe” handguns on the basis of its arbitrary nature. That one is nearly six years old now, but the 9th circuit is taking its sweet time in hearing it.

I don’t think there is a LGBT exemption for owning ARs.

2A right are civil rights. If more people understood that we might not be having these problems.

While I still don’t fully understand how far ranging the implications could have been, I was one of the briar patch individuals. I saw just how bogus that bill was and hoped Brown would sign it into law so we could tear it, and apparently many other bad laws, down. I figured that the NRA suit standing by would have put an injunction on it so it wouldn’t go into effect while being decided, the 9th circuit is full of shit so the case would definitely end up at the Supreme Court and quite possibly had benefited other states as well (NY and NJ in particular) I really wanted to see Gura take yet another case to the Supremes and be able to buy a Bugatti or two from his win.

Sadly I’m stuck in the state for a few more years, but I’m hoping to be gone by the end of 2020 unless the political and tax landscape changes dramatically for the better.

I live in Santa Barbara country. I got here in February this year, and I should be gone by Summer 2016. There are really five options in front of me: Louisiana, Nebraska, Wyoming, North Dakota, or back to Montana. Doesn’t matter which one I get, it will be nice to get to enjoy my training time again rather than deal with the infernal bullet button and gimped magazines.

You people need to get out of states like CA.

70 degrees year round and a pretty beach do not off set all the other nonsense you have to put up with to love there, if you ask me.

“…but…but…I have family here”

Yeah and they don’t deserve to live in that place either…take them with you when you leave.

It is not going to get any better there in your lifetime.

If it were only that easy friend. My folks are in their 70’s & my wife’s are in their 80’s. They hate the politics here as well, but they’re too old to move & they admit it. Our kids love their grandparents very much & vice versa. I’m self employed here & I’ve busted my ass to build my business from nothing. I can’t make the money I make here in the Midwest. Not even close. My income allows the wife to stay home with the kids (No daycare, etc…) which is priceless.

We’re going to Idaho this week to check it out for the first time ever. A friend of mine recently moved there & says it’s paradise compared to CA. We’re going to see for ourselves if it suits our family. Maybe we’ll be living there within a year, maybe we’ll stay in Kommiefornia until the old folks kick the bucket?

For what it’s worth, the beaches & 70* weather isn’t what keeps people here (At least not in my circle). It’s the family obligation that does. Are 30rd mag’s & SBR’s worth turning your back on your family? Would you leave your family behind for those freedoms? In the big picture, what’s worth more? If TX turned blue (which it probably will someday), would you leave your elderly parents who depend on you behind to be able to run your black rifle like it was meant to be?

Long story short, it isn’t easy to up & leave like a bachelor such as some of you may think. If it were, I’d have burned rubber a long time ago.

It isn’t about leaving just because of the gun laws. How about all the other nonsense? The high taxes and cost of living? The fact that you live in a place where you have zero hope of ever having your views represented.

Texas might never turn blue. The Dems make a huge mistake in lumping all the Latino people together as block voters like they blacks.

I know many that do NOT vote Democrat and are not liberal at all. The left is jumping to the conclusion that because the blacks vote in a block…well…the Latinos will do just the same. However this is really not true.

Another huge mistake that the left is making is that ALL Latinos are pro open border or want illegal immigrants here. Again…not true…not even close. Many legal Latinos I know actually dislike the illegals and think they are ruining the image of Latinos. Another mistake made by the left in judging the Latinos - that they all stick up for each other.

These reasons are why I think that Texas is still a VERY long ways from turning blue and it may never do so.

So if shit goes sideways in TX (which is impossible according to you), would you turn your back on your blood for a free state? Your elderly parents in their time of need?

Without a doubt.

Cool. At least we know where we stand. To each their own.

How many more baseless insinuations that no one knows crap around here but you can we look forward to this week? Any chance you can just once discuss a topic without sounding like a self-professed oracle?

Not saying I’m perfect but dang man you must be a great person to have for dinner if someone wants to feel two feet tall by the time they go home. Maybe learn some humility and offer a scrap of it for once.

Somewhat back on topic…

Any reason besides the official answer given “infringement of rights” that he decided to cross the legislature out there? Brown is kind of hard to nail down on where he stands on the gun control bit. I know he’s a gun owner, but vetoing the bills was very un-California like.

Not that I’m upset in the least. A small fight was won out there.

One can dream.

The long term consequences of passing it would likely be the high courts knocking down California’s entire assault weapon infrastructure as unconstitutional. As it is now, they get away with it. Expand the “banned” items list by THAT much and you run into serious challenges.
