California Chrome to make Triple Crown history?

Granted I’m sure the majority of folks on here don’t follow horse racing but for me the thought of actually getting to see a possible triple crown winner in my lifetime has me exuding excitement.

Going into the day I though he had it but pretty much right from the gate I didn’t think we’d be seeing a Triple Crown today. Kinda sucks, I was really hoping to see a California Chrome victory.

Edit: I wish the owner had lost with a little more grace.

Well I’ve hit a triple crown of disappointment. I don’t follow horse racing much but we do watch the Belmont if it looks like a there may be a triple crown winner. That’s Smarty Jones, Big Brown, and now California Chrome who have let me down. :frowning: .

To be fair there were over double the amount of horses in today’s race than when Secretariat ran. Not that he wouldn’t have won back then anyways but a field of 10 other horses is quite a bit different than 4 others.

My wife and daughter have horses and as a kid I would ride when I could catch one.“not really worth the effort looking back” But with a horse you can never tell. Even though this post is after the fact.

So how much work is that for you? Jk but I grew up with Arabians, a couple ponies, and a trail horse or two. Shoveled a lot of shit. I’d never own a horse now. Unless they’re making me money a horse is a huge money pit.

Nonsense. The benefit of having oversized and warm blooded lawn ornaments far outweighs the associated costs… Ha

My wife has expressed an interest in getting a horse or two to pasture out at our place. I’ve found the perfect compromise. We’re going to let the neighbor’s granddaughter pasture HER horse on our place . . . with the provision that my wife gets to go down and feed her horse carrots whenever she wants.

100%+ My wife and daughter do all the work, some horses are really amazing though. Own a horse and you will know why Ferrari uses a horse on their logo ,they cost about the same.
