As good as the 6.5 Creedmoor is, its not possible in an AR15 so you hump a big rifle for long range as compared to a weapon with a viable range 200+ yards or further than the 5.56 in the same rifle we know and love.
Maybe we will get some quality rifles chambered in .338 Federal as it is putting up some wild numbers also. Still a big gun though.

If you go to “Grendeltown” bring enough cash for a quality barrel for your build. Satern w/o a doubt makes some of the best cut rifled barrels for the 264 LBX/6.5 Grendel round.
I have two grendel builds, one with an 18.5 barrel and the other with a medium profile 24". Both are stupid accurate but my long range, over 600 yards, numbers are better with the 24".
I used the 18" 2 days ago to take a my first buck of the season. Kind of a short shot, only 125-130 yrds, but the bugger was running like a bat out of hell. I thought I’d missed and was setting up for a follow up shot when he folded up.
After shooting both since 2006 I don’t think the Grendel /264 feeds well enough to be a combat cartridge. If shooting long range mostly with some hunting the 6.5G/264LBC is a good choice. If hunting mainly the 6.8 is a better choice IMO. Both are capable of shooting 1/2 MOA the 6.8 has better hunting bullets, the 264/6.5 has better match bullets.
I can’t hunt with a rifle in my state, but I can in ky. I have family there and that’s usually where I go. The largest animal I’d shoot would be a deer.
