So me and a couple of my rotc buddies are going to the 2010 nra convention in charlotte in may and I have a few questions. Are any of the non north carolina residents going to be able to purchase any firearms there? We all have military id’s and i know there is an exception for military personel with not being same state as seller? Also is there any way the we could purchase a handgun there if all of us are under 21 with us being in the military(any exemptions)?
I can’t find the link right now, but it lets military members stationed in the state buy handguns without a state rsident ID. You just need a copy of your orders stating you are stationed in North Carolina.
You need to call and ask the nra reps in charge of the event…my guess is it will depend on the FFL who will 4473 the guns out to you.
FYI…Our banquet does not allow you to leave the event with the guns and must be picked up any time the next day and beyond. This is due to booze being served. So, you always can ask when you arrive.
FYI…Hard to get a good deal at most banquets (live / silent auctions) due to high-rollers trying to outbid their buddies across the room. You can always get lucky on the bucket raffles but the odds are tough.

Am I missing something? I don’t think there are any firearms for sale during the NRA Convention - it’s not a Gun Show. The only items I have seen sold there are accessories and such (IE: items from the NRA Store).
Not trying to lessen the service of Cadets; but I don’t think members fo the ROTC fall under any “Military Exemptions” when it comes to purchasing firearms (as far as he law is concerned). Those exemptions usually revolve around Military Orders assigning them to a post that is outside of their home of records. It allows a State to give non-resident Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines State Residency status without having to actually change their HOR for tax filing purposes.
Of course this is based on the jurisdiction (State or Commonwealth) in question and the definitive question should be obtained from that jurisdiction.
