Hello all, new here and ‘newb’ to both the site and 6920’s specifically. Long-time owner/shooter of multiple platforms (mostly steel-n-wood 
) and my only “black-gun” experience was in the early 80’s, M16A1 (military service long ago). As I do not yet have my legs under me re: M4Carbine.net site navigation and the forums, hope I’m posting this to the right place. Easy questions I do believe.
A colleague and I both decided a few months back that since we both wanted a 6920 anyway, we would dovetail the buy into the election cycle. net- If the socialists won (presumed they were going to, we started planning early) we decided we would buy the weapons this same week. Our little protest if you will. They won, so we followed through and bought 1 each 6920 yesterday. They will ship Monday and we plan to pick-up them up at a local FFL late next week. My question is, I am looking for a checklist of items that I must/should look for and inspect prior to taking possession of the gun and walking out-the-door, a cheat-sheet if you will of the basic items to look for to ensure the weapon is a quality NIB unit. I read with interest the on-going thread re: Colt factory staking and how to ID that and the “C” stamp on the BCG etc. That is the kind of tips and things I am looking for. Bottom-line, I want to ensure we walk away with 100% Colt products without defects. Lastly, we are using a reputable shop but…want to be certain each weapon is solid.
Does this kind of “list” exist here, a link maybe? Of course, I will continue to do heavy research on my own before I head to the shop but…will take any help I can get to stream-line that effort.
Lastly, look forward to my membership here and hope to learn from all of you going forward. I’m pretty excited about adding the 6920 to my personal arsenal, been wanting to for quite some time. Thank you in advance.
