buddys looking at a bushmaster AR in a pawn shop for $1500, new. any opinions ? i know nothing bout em so told him i’d ask you guys. thanks.

Is it possibly gold plated and diamond encrusted? Otherwise, pass on it as there are some Colts and Daniel Defense M4’s out there to be had close to that price.

is your Buddy trying to go “cheap” or “quality” ?? if the DPMS is NIB then it is a decent price for a decent rifle, if used, find a very knowledgeable AR-15 “nut” and have him/her give it a close inspection and by all means take a 5.56mm NATO Field Gage with you and check the head space, some AR-15 type guns may look beautiful on the outside, BUT ! the not so obvious possible problems are inside that beautiful gun, the worst you may encounter after buying and shooting it is it MAY go full auto, if this happens, (which is highly unlikely !) immediately return it to the dealer or private party for full refund, if the wrong people are around, you may end up sitting in a prison cell for the next 10 to 20 years 
Scottsdale gun club has Colt 6920’s in stock for 1650. and S&W m&P for 1195. Both are better regarded than BM esp for 1500.
