I’m upgrading my Bushmaster lower to VLTOR EMOD and Mil-Spec Receiver extension.
Anybody know what Bushmaster is using on the castle nut? Is it locktite? Any suggestions for removal? I think that I’ve heard that heating it in the oven might help? Thanks.
There is a possibility that they used Loc-tite or some other silliness. They applied Loc-Tite or something to our carbines. I recommend using a heatgun or a mini butane torch with low heat. I also recommend that you grasp the buttstock when you go to break it loose.
False alarm. There wasn’t any loctite on it. I guess it was just torqued on pretty good, which suprises me.
This is funny. When I bought this bushmaster as my 3rd AR in a FTF transaction back in January, it was a complete rifle (Busmaster ORC to be exact). Now the only thing left that is original to when I purchased it is the lower receiver and LPK internals, and the BCG, which I’ll be changing out as soon as Bravo Company gets some M16 BCG’s in stock.
It now wear’s a 16" BCM upper with a Midwest Industries MCTAR 20 forearm, an Aimpoint CompML3 in a Larue cantilever mount, a hogue grip that the previous owner put on it, and a mil-spec receiver extension with VLTOR EMOD stock and H buffer.
I think I drank the M4carbine.net cool-aid. Maybe I’ll get around to posting some pics of it one day.
