I couldn’t help but buy one of these as the local gun store had them red-tagged for $799. I got an Aimpoint to put on it but would like to get BUIS for this rifle as well, but am curious if I should replace the front gas block with one that has a rail on it, or where can I find a front buis that will fit what is on there now? Any help appreciated.
Bushmaster has some folding sights on their website you can order. They look like this on their AR-15s. I would be tempted to go with a railed block, but either way should work.

?? I have a DPMS Oracle .308, would I better off going with a rail block to mount a scope, or just get 1" high scope mounts so it will clear my BUIS?? which would more stable?? any help would be great.
I prefer the one piece mounts like the Burris PEPR. They will clear most BUIS setups and give you better eye relief. LaRue mounts are very good, too, as are the Nikon M223 mounts.

Any quality AR front sight/gas block will fit. I remain unconvinced that the YHM add-on sight is a quality unit. Ideally, Bushmaster/DPMS would have not been retarded, and left the whole FSB in place. However, given the incredibly canted and off-center manner in which the FSBs seem to be attached to the 308 ORCs, chopping them was probably the most logical course of action.
It is serviceable, but obviously not as good as a Troy or similar. It just depends on weighing $ vs how much you’re likely to need your BUIS and how precise you need it to be. If you’re using it as a duty weapon or similar, I’d go gas block and Troys.
Did all of the ORCs that you handled have the poorly-aligned FSBs? Or just the one you picked up?
All the ones I handled and the ones inspected by an industry professional I know who bought several.

any pics of the rifle yet? have you made any mods? have you shot it yet?
Negative on the pics and any mods at the moment. I’m taking it out this weekend for its first range session with an Aimpoint M2 on top and see what I can do with a few different factory loads as well as some of my own reloads.
This is just going to be a hunting rifle and that’s it. I can’t wait to drop a griz with it.
