bushmaster complete lower worth $300?

I know someone is likely to start flaming me or this thread will get locked but wth…

My lgs has a bushmaster rifle he split up and will sell the complete lower for $300, maybe $275 if I laid down cash.
I would make this into a frankengun with maybe an aero precision upper and who knows what bbl.

What im questioning is bushweisers quality. I know there are reports of problems with their guns, but should I be concerned with just one of their lowers? any I should avoid?

Awaiting advice and/or lockdown

You can get a BCM blem complete lower for that kind of money, and not have to wonder if you bought a POS.

Thinking of later resale value if things go south.
Wondering if the average joe will equate bcm with psa, model 1, acme grade.
Knowwhatimean?

I can’t honestly say BM lowers are that bad…It’s what inside that’s shit…The stripped lower itself, should be ok… I mean, they (BM) usually drill all the holes in the right places and are the right size, the mag wells usually ok,A few years ago I had a varmit gun set up using a BM upper and lower…I put a Jewell trigger in it myself with no problems. Upper had a douglas SS barrel. It worked fine… For using as a build, I don’t see a problem with it… It is what it is…I’d just check and make sure a P-mag would drop-free out of the mag well, provided it checks out, I’d go ahead and use it… I’d also see if I could get it for less… Most average Joes don’t have a clue who BCM, DD, Noveske, LMT, or who any quality makers are…They’ll know what they see in the gun shop, and 99% of the time that’s BM, Oly, DPMS, Double Star, Rock River, etc…

I would pass you can get a new assembled lower for that.

Usually the biggest issue with Bushmaster is either an out of spec chamber or poorly staked gas key, so if it’s not used up his lower should be ok. Still you could get a new full BM lower for about $300, so the $275 would be fair for his.

Commercial or mil-spec RE?

You can get a lmt defender lower for $330, but you will also have to pay shipping and transfer.

You would be much better off finding something in the EE for a better deal, in my opinion.

With the limited amount that I’ve used/seen Bushmasters in person, the lowers seemed to be OK. All were running aftermarket triggers. The uppers, not so much.

Since BCM Blem Lowers are gone forever, how about this, if you’re going to build it.

  1. Rainier Arms Lower from either G&R or Rainier @ $145 shipped

  2. DD LPK https://www.primaryarms.com/Daniel_Defense_Lower_Parts_Kit_SemiAuto_p/dd-21007.htm @ $97 shipped

  3. Stock hardware kit http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=STOCK+HARDWARE+KIT @ $76 shipped

Total, $318 without the buttstock.

Or the complete lower assembly,

MY BCM cost $360… Ron

Not a deal in my book. I know where to buy Colt lowers for around 400.00 complete with tube, stock, etc…

I bought PSA lowers for 60.00 stripped (to use in the armorer classes) and you can get BCM lowers for over 300.00 from GandRtactical.

OP, sounds like your buying this lower to resale for a profit if a another ban comes to fruition. Is this the case?

If so, most people who will be scrambling to buy that gun they should have beforehand will not know the difference between an Olympic or a KAC. Last election I saw used Bushmaster’s going for $2000 at a gun show and the damned things were selling. Panic and ignorance rings true the old adage a fool and their money shall soon part.

I agree on the BCM blem if you can find one. I have two BM lowers in use that are 10+ years old that have had no problems. I did put SSAs in both of them, however.

well i would much rather get lmt and go all lmt.:dirol:

no its in case i lose my j o b.
i have a virgin 6920 and a noveske build im into, so you can guess which’ll get sold first:D

They sale brand new LMT’s for $330. Resale mucho better. Because they are mucho better.
I drink LMT coolaid and that’s a fact jack.

So many better options even if it works fine. I wouldn’t buy it. If I did, $200 max.

There is nothing wrong with Bushmaster lowers. I run a Bushy lower on my BCM 16" middy. That being said, it has been stripped out over time of the Bushy factory parts and replaced with quality parts like the fire control group, receiver extention, etc. I would not pay that for a complete Bushy lower, because it will likely have a comercial receiver extention and the stock Bushy internals. As far as a stripped out Bushy lower, they are in fact good to go. They actually do make the lowers to spec (demensions).

Anything is worth whatever you can get somebody to pay for it. That being said there are certainly better quality complete lowers to be had for about ten percent more than what your looking at paying for the bushy.

My dept. has been running Bushmasters since 2007. These rifles have been nothing but problems but all the issues are with the uppers. The lowers have been fine.

I agree with what most have said. The bushmaster I used to have the lower seemed fine, no complaints, but I would not pay that much money for it.
