Bushmaster 2011 catalog. New Models and ATACS

Bushmaster has a few new models and more ATACS models in 2011

The new MOE Middy model looks slick, as does the MOE Dissy. There is an MOE Middy .308

Yeah yeah, bushmaster sucks, blah blah. Enjoy the catalog

Thanks for the link.

I’m glad Bushmaster is updating the dissipator with a midlength gas systems & magpul furniture. I’m not impressed to see they didn’t opt for a lighter barrel. I might have been willing to give Bushmaster another chance if it weren’t for that.

ETA. Now I’m wondering if they did use an hbar on the new model. The product catalog says the new dissipator weighs 6.42 pounds. Bushmaster lists the old dissipator as 7.44 pounds on their website. Hmm.

cause if your going to war with a spork, your going to use the best spork available. KFC

After about 10 or 15 pages I started to get page after pag of blank. Something’s up.

Anyway, interesting that they show an ACR Basic folder.

I wish Bushmaster would spend less money on printing fancy catalogs and more money on making reliable weapons.

Thanks for posting. I see Bushmaster is releasing the Basic ACR with the folding stock now, the combination of features most resembling the original Masada design. Some other nuggets in there - the MagPul MS3 sling is on page 46 as well.

But is the ACR at an appropriate price point on the horizon? Also, why the hell are they using the M4 profile barrel? You can’t even mount that style of 203 on an ACR.

They probably have tons of barrels sitting around or are really hung up on their manufacturing process. It’s really silly. They could probably shave 2.5 - 4 oz off the overall weight of their weapon just by changing their barrel profiles.

I’ve seen ACRs on sale at SGCUSA and other vendors at significantly reduced prices compared to the originally announced MSRP. Right now they are even selling the ‘Enhanced’ at a lower price than the ‘Basic’.

Interesting that despite the furor last year over barrel twists, the ACR section of the 2011 Bushmaster catalog seems to have even less information on the barrels than last year’s (with the exception of the proprietary coating, which is now specified as melonite).

It seems pretty common that the introduction of something leads with a higher price, and that a year or so later prices tend to come down.

Regarding the barrel, I don’t think most people care, and since they don’t go into loads of barrel info on their other weapons, there doesn’t seem to be much need to do it on the ACR.

Personally, I think the ACR could do well if the price came down and Bushmaster made it a more popular weapon system. You see and hear less about it now, than when it was a Magpul prototype, which is a failure on their part.

There are ways of promoting the ACR, and by doing that, I think it could take off and stand on its own feet as opposed to being just another item in the Bushmaster lineup.

Just my thoughts.

It looks like Bushmaster has dropped MSRP by around $300 on the ACR. The larger question in my mind is whether that was passed along to the dealer. If so, and the street price drops $300 on the ACR, I think it becomes a much more appealing weapon.

Since 2010 failed to be the year of the ACR like everyone thought it would be, I do wonder what steps Bushmaster will take to remedy the lack of momentum.

A price drop is a good start since that is probably the biggest thing that took the wind out of the ACR’s sails.

I’m holding my money waiting to see what, if any, changes or improvements are in store for the ACR. I’d prefer a different barrel. They need to get the first gen. bugs ironed out. Be nice if it shed some weight.

Price drop with a lightweight contour 1/7" barrel would sell me on one.

I hate to say it, but using the M4 barrel does create the illusion that they really don’t care enough to go all the way with it.

Its sad since they have light contour barrels.

Agree - I’ve never understood the use of the M4 profile barrel. Considering the ACR’s major competitor (in terms of features) is the SCAR (which uses a lightweight barrel), why go with a heavier barrel that adds no functionality? Why surrender any ground to the competition that you don’t have to? Like you said, it is almost like they weren’t ready to commit.

At this point I’m more interested to see how the Remington ACR variant fares in the coming Army evaluations.

Dropping the MSRP by $300 and adding the folding stock to the basic model is doing a lot to win me over. The barrel profile still sucks, though.

Good question.

I absolutely loathe the stupid sound effects, the page turning sound effect, the others. I just got Windows 7 and you can block that garbage with the Volume Mixer. Before that, when I was using XP, I’d quit the web site. I just hate, hate those stupid sound effects. BTW, I love Windows 7. So far. I’m waiting for the problems and quirks to begin showing themselves. None so far.

What IS the price of the ACR with the folding stock though?

Dropping it by 300 dollars doesnt mean anything if they jack the MSRP up by 600 because of the increased “cost” of the stock.

Id like to see more caliber options so that the rifle actually has a reason to exist.

Bushmaster should be pushing the heck out of the 300 blackout.
