…slicing into my rounds during feeding. What is the best way to de-burr SS or should I just send it back to the shop I got it from? Im only 50+ rds into the break-in and dont have the time to waste (deploying soon) so I need to get this squared away ;). Thanks in advance.
How can you tell your rounds are getting “sliced into”? Were you somehow able to recover the bullet intact after firing?
Rounds would hang up some as they were feeding into the chamber. I then pulled the charging handle, ejected the round, eyeballed a nice gouge running from the tip of the 855 to half down the brass.
my guess is he’s finding copper shavings
get a deburring knife from your local hardware store

My rounds only get scratched if I’m ejecting a live one. The rounds go in clean and when I eject them with the charging handle, I see two scratches on the copper right where the barrel extension lugs would be. What kind of mags are you using, I never get rounds hung up with pmags.
Personally, I’d leave it be unless I thought it was really throwing my shots off.

Please cxonsider that every type of round from every type of mag that I have use of is doing this. Brass that ejects after firing also shows gouging halfway down the lenght of the case and not just the hand ejected rounds.
Yes, there is a bit of brass shavings in the chamber area. No, I dont have any pix (lack of a working camera).
Anyway, this is my first go around with a SS tube and I pretty much know the “sickness”; its the “cure” I need to find. So, what would be the best way to polish out the chamber area of a SS barrel or should I even bother to try and just return it?
or pull the barrel and hit it with some 280grit
hard to give advice without seeing the problem. i’m never for sending shit back if i can fix it myself, personally.
Im pulling the barrel tomorrow; I’ll advise further. This was gonna be the HD rifle for the wife while Im away but I may need to rethink that…
