Bump in the night armor/carriage questions.

I was talking with some buddies over some cold ones and the subject of armor and carriers came up. It got me wondering if a armor system would fit well into a home defense plan. To me the most important part would be the ability to put it on in the dark and at speed, but I don’t have any experience with them to make an educated decision about what works well in this role.

Whats the general consensus on owning armor/carriage systems for those nighttime bumps we worry about?

Who’s got what and what are your reasons for the system plus it’s set-up?

In short - no, I do not believe that you will have the SA nor the time to don gear when things are kinetic

more importantly is an action plan for family members

consider any legal ramifications - does your area allow for ownership of a suppressor?

If you are living in a free state - Is your bedstand gun fully gassed up and ready to roll?

I have a GT Tundra on a Glock 17 with an X300 in a holster I sewed up specifically for bedside presentation

I also have a purpose made slung bandolier which is nothing more than a piece of 1" webbing with an extra magazine, Cell phone, SF G2L and Spyderco Endura

I find it really difficult that you need anything more than that to address bumps in the night within your home. If you really think more is necessary, I would advise that you stop and think about it as you are going down the path of GEAR instead of sharpening whats in between yours and your family’s ears.

Action plan- check

Suppressor- Not legal in VT. Though I do think they are a very useful and important tool for HD and the only reason I would ever get one other than training the little ones and the CDI factor.

Gassed up weapon- Check(X2) AR and G19 both with X300’s

Carriage at the moment is a man purse of the Maxpedtion kind with extra mags, flashlight, knife and small FAK.

Thank you for your input eggroll.
