Building a 22lr upper?

I hope this hasn’t been posted already…
With the prices of the dedicated uppers being what they are, I think it’d be fun to build one. Are the parts readily available like the 223/556? Any resource on building methods? Have any of you built one, if so your thoughts.

Spikes tactical and CMMG make enoguh parts to build pretty much anything you want in 22lr…

I just built a complete .22LR AR:

  • AGP Arms lower
  • BCM upper receiver
  • Ballistic Advantage barrel (I wanted a lightweight)
  • Spike’s guts

It’s working great so far with about 1100 rounds downrange in two weeks.

Went to the Spike’s site and found the goods. I’m waiting for my 6.8 barrel to come in, after that project a 22lr would be next.
HeavyDuty that’s looking good! I like that barrel. I’ll definately PM you about the “how to’s” of putting together a 22lr upper.

Sounds good! If you can live with an M4 barrel profile you’re probably better to just order a complete ready-to-run upper from Spike’s - plug and play. I really wanted the LW, so it was a little more work. Plus, no spider cartoons.
