Decided to start a build. Still decisions to make on the upper but I think the lower will be easy. By the time I finish it, I can then make decisions on the upper. Skipping step 1 - stripped lower. Gun show is a month away and I can get it there at a good price and avoid transfer fees and shipping.
Decided I want a quality trigger since the gun will be for a range/target use. Found several recommendations for RRA 2 stage trigger. Found LPK with this trigger for $130 with shipping.
Arguments for and against? Alternatives? Cost should be the approx the same or less.
Avoid the RRA 2 stage. After moderate/heavy use they can become “single” stage.
Don’t skimp on a trigger- along with a good quality barrel, it is an intergal part of making an accurate weapon.
For GP, I’d take a look at the Geiselle SSA/DMR or KAC 2 stage.
For a LPK, G&R Tactical has some in stock (IIRC) that have worked well in three builds of mine.
This is a little above your stated price range, but if you’re in no hurry to build, it’s worth it to get the best components.
Just my 2 kopecks…
For my own info - Is a 2 stage trigger that necessary? Versus a single stage with a trigger job?
Think of a good two stage trigger like a good 1911 trigger pull. A single stage is kind of like a stock DA pistol first shot trigger pull. There is alot of difference between my LMT that is single stage and my two stage LMT. The two stage is lighter and has a better feel. The SSA trigger and G&R LPK is the way to go. I had Grant put them in my Dad’s Noveske lower. Amazing feel to that trigger. I do not know of a trigger job with the same feel that I would feel comfortable with in a gun that may have to protect me or my family.
