I’m new to the Black Rifles, actually guns period. So my knowledge is limited. So buying a compete rifle from the same company would be nice, save me from trying to put different parts together, but build what you like. I’m open to all suggestions. I would like this rifle to be a rifle I can take out and shoot but if it’s a zombie outbreak occurs I want it to be a effective battle rifle.
Looking for a 16" Barrel Chamber in 5.56
An Optic
Rear BUIS, Front if needed (not sure)
The rest I can leave up to you guys. Also check out this rifle I was looking at. Maybe you guys can build something off of it.
i would rather find a DDm4 on gunbroker and score a deal on an Aimpoint…I made the mistake of getting one of those “govt contract” rifles the first time around, wont happen again.
Spike’s M4LE for $800. Aimpoint M2/Larue mount combo from SKD for $500. Magpul MBUS rear for <$50. Surefire G2 in an IWC mount plus a sling of you choice.
Personally, if I were buying something for myself, I would go with a Lightweight 14.5in Middy barrel, a DD low profile gas block, an M4A1 RIS II rifle-length handguard anodized in FDE, a Battlecomp 1.5 compensator, DD bolt carrier group, DD Front and Rear Fixed Sight Set, a Rail Mounted QD Sling Swivel, and finally a DD lower parts kit.
After that I still need to get a stripped lower receiver to install the lower parts kit into, a Magpul MIAD grip, a TI-7 stock, Magpul enhanced trigger guard, a Blue Force Gear sling in Camo Green (50% for a limited time), and a BCM Gunfighter Mod 4 Charging Handle… I guess that about wraps it up.
Seriously? If you know nothing about AR15 platforms, I’d get a plain Jane Spike’s, BCM or DD upper, put it on a S&W or Palmetto State Armory complete lower (it’s pushing two pins together) and put an iron sight on the rear.
Start with a blemished BCM lower, sans stock: $250
MOE stock: $57
BCM mid-length upper with lightweight barrel: $385
BCM bolt group: $130
BCM gunfighter charging handle: $45
MOE mid length handguard: $34
Daniel Defense rear sight: $65
H-1 and Larue mount from G&R: $579
If my math is right, that comes out to just about $1555, leaving almost $100 to sort out a sling (I recommend a VCAS variant). You’ll have to pony up another $100 for a light setup, but that should cover a G2X and a nice mount.
So I over shot the $1650 by about $100, but that’s fully set up with high quality parts.
Just make sure to do your research on here before you buy. Don’t let a gun store salesman talk you into something. Remember…if someone says it “just like” something, or “as good as”, it probably isn’t.
Don’t forget to look at Rob S’s chart. Buy quality and you won’t have to replace it anytime soon.
After some research on several sites and this forum. I’m beginning to understand an Ar better. But this build looks very good , only thing I might change is the optic and go with a eotech 516 or 517. Thanks for the post.
Personally, I think you’d be better off with Rob’s recommendation.
Looks like you’ve already been tainted with some Gun Shop Talk by wanting the EOTech. Just look at how many posts have recommended an Aimpoint versus one post with an EOTech?? I will admit that the EOTech “looks” cooler but…you have to get above “looks”. If you’re not careful, next you’ll be wanting a tripod, a Laser, a 4-20X scope, a stock with a built-in glove compartment, etc.
Personally, I think you’d be better off with Rob’s recommendation.
Heh, I posted an all DD build just 'cause I have it on the brain from ordering an upper. I think Rob’s blem BCM lower paired with a Smartgunner DD upper would provide the best quality/value combo…or just get the DD stripped lower so they match and throw in a $55 MOE LPK from Palmetto Armory. Then…an MOE stock kit from DSG for $59, total lower $244 w/ DD roll mark and MOE furniture.
There is such a wealth of variety and quality in the AR market it is an outstanding time to buy! I love all the BCM options also, great company.
Smartgunner packaged Daniel Defense Upper with Light rail, Aimpoint T-1 on LT Mount, and DD1.5 fixed sights. I’d get the DD BCG too.
From G&R Tactical, BCM Blemished Lower receiver, MOE pistol grip and stock, and BCM Gunfighter Charging handle.
BlueForce Gear vickers sling, and a Surefire X300 light, some PMags and you’re in business.
Just to be very specific, the problem with the EOTech is not the “bling” factor; it’s that EOTech’s just are not as reliable as Aimpoint. Plus there’s the whole “fumbling to turn on your optic” dealio. H1/T1s will stay turned on for five years before you have to replace the battery.
I still don’t think you should buy an optic at all. Get the gun, buy the ammo and shoot it until you know what you really want.
