I’m completely new to this AR thing… having just fired my first one a couple of weeks ago while a buddy was visiting… from what I’ve read here there are some really important things to make sure a hard use AR15/m4gery have on it… so I started looking at gather parts at Bravo Company, but again being new to this I’m not sure I haven everything I’d need here (minus a stripped lower)…
Of course none of this stuff is actually in stock, but I just wanna make sure I know what all goes into one of these things…

ETA: Looks like I’m missing a rear sight - are there any rear sights that don’t cost as much as a lower receiver that are decent? All the ones I’m seeing are $100+
The LaRue Tactical fixed rear sight is $89.00, maybe something by YHM, I don’t know the prices yet but i’m assuming the fixed rear sight by Daniel Defense or Troy would probably be under $100. If you can hold out untill Magpul’s MBUS is out thats suppost to be around $50-$60.

unless you’re not at all in a hurry, i suggest just shopping around till you find all the junk you need. i’m on all the “notify me” lists, but still i’m lookin high and low for a 14.5 CL barrel… i’d probably even settle for 1/9 at this point.
Oh I know with all the panic buying it’ll be a while… But due to costs I’ll probably need to piece-meal it anyway… This was more to make sure I wasn’t missing parts I would need.
grant is the local favorite internet dealer. he’s got custom LPKs that he advertises as hand assembled from the best manufacturers. LPK means “lower parts kit,” which is necessary for the construction of a working stripped lower receiver.
Well from what I can tell the BCM Mid-length uppers are scarce, but Bravo Company is saying that they will have tons of LMT products coming in - including the M4 Uppers and their BCG…
Again, being new to this, if I switch to an LMT M4 upper, is there anything on that list that needs changing (besides the handguards obviously)? I’d still use the H buffer in the stock, so I should still be good to go, right?
With a 16" mid-length gas system you don’t need an H-Buffer. If you go with the LMT 16" M4 Profile barrel, which IMHO is a great upper (I have 2), you can use an H or H2 buffers depending on barrel/weapon/shooting style.
Honest question… how does shooting style affect which buffer I’m using? Is it a training issue (those not properly trained usually do XYZ that an H2 buffer fixes) or is it something else?
Some people think the recoil impulse changes; the H2 smooths out recoil but will also slow down operation a bit. It most likely will come down to “how much does it matter to you”. I could care less H or H2, the difference is small.
Okay, so the heavier buffer helps more with recoil but would slow down rapid fire (theoretically)… But you’re saying it’s really 6 of one, half a dozen of the other… Thanks!
I get paid to carry what every the give me, so I don’t spend a ton of time worrying about H/H2. Some also claim their weapon runs better with an H2 and some claim the opposite.
After you shoot your first 1,000 rounds (if there’s no problems with it) try and H2 and see if you can tell a difference. You may even be able to swap with someone at the range for a few rounds.
