Build book

I’m interested in possibly building my next AR but in all honesty I’d prefer to have some sort of book or manual that provides some how to or tips etc. Is there any material you guys know of and can point me to?

YOUTUBE! Its got everything!! And its > than a book b/c you can see it. Boom.

Except for how to remove a front take down pin!!!
This morning’s stress.

Another one for youtube, it is one of the first places I check if I for some reason can not figure anything out myself. And you don’t have to pay for it. Also, with a book you just have descriptions of what to do, youtube videos show you what to do and how to do it, because often times the people are doing it themselves just for the video.

You can also check Army TM 9-1005-319-23. That is the technical manual for the M16 and is a great resource. Has all parts descriptions, assembly/disassembly instructions, torque values, etc.

Just google and download the PDF. I took the PDF to Kinko’s and had them print and bind a copy that I keep on my work bench.

Brownells has some step by step instructions in video format. They also sell a few books on AR building. The one by Glen Zediker looks like a good bet and is spiral bound so it lays flat on your bench. If you’re going to build an AR yourself make sure you have the right tools and know how to use them. I’m pretty sure there’s a sticky somewhere that shows what tools are needed.

Get the Zediker book: http://zediker.com/ like mkmckinley said. I did and it has lots of good info in it and big pictures.:stuck_out_tongue:

The brownells videos are good too. You never could come across some dumb ass on youtube.

OP

Patrick Sweeney’s book:

Gunsmithing the AR-15

You can get it on Amazon or go to your local Barnes and Noble and buy it there. It has a lot of useful information and good pictures. Instructions are simple and easy to follow, which is a plus.
