I got this thing from the wife as a gift this summer. It has quickly become my go to for “home defense”. Sure, it looks silly but it works and it’s a lot more fun than a flyswatter.
It’s a single shot, pump action, with a small sealed bin for “ammo”. The trigger sucks and effective lethal range is about 5 feet. Funky but useable open sights for getting “innagrass” with the bugs. Real world training value is pretty much zero, but if you want to gain tactical superiority over the common house fly you gotta get yourself one of these. Before you know it you’ll be pieing every room in your house hunting intruders. (Note: Avoid letting family members catch pictures.)
Yep. I’m a dork. This thing is silly. Wonder if I can put a red dot on it? Ooh! A rail for my LA5, then I could use it with NODS!
See very few of them now, but Kentucky in the early to mid 1980’s had loads of flying grasshoppers that were up to about 2" long that I spent hours almost daily on summer break shooting with BB guns along with catching them for fishing.
I bought my boys 2 for Christmas several years ago. Came home one day and all of the doors were wide open. Looked like a margarita party went bad with salt everywhere. Yes, the lads killed all of the flies. Opened the doors for more Killin.
2 years ago, i bought one for work. Same phenomenon. From a 10 year old prepubescent boy to a group of immature 40 year old firefighters. The effect is the same.
I will add that for the one i bought for work, i removed the safety as it reset for every shot and trigger pull was steyr aug bad. Now with out safety, the trigger pull is milspec m16a2.
The Bug a Salt sucks. Imagine your wife comes in the room and feels salt crunching under her feet. You will be nagged at for an hour. 12 guage works much better
