Does anyone do any type of lube here? I read somewhere someone lubed that area. I never have.

When I do a detail clean, I’ll wipe down the buffer and spring with a rag that has CLP on it.
I usually use muffler bearing grease my self! 
It doesnt need lube as far as Im concerned. When I lived in a high humidity climate, Id wipe the spring down with an oil damp rag, but thats it.
Installation lube (extension-into-receiver)? Or maintenance lube (inside)?
Just keep a light coat of oil on your buffer spring and the buffer itself. Nothing more is needed… That’s how they come from the factory…
I was thinking of maybe using a dry lube like the Otis or Militec in the buffer area? During my military time I shot 10,000’s of thousands of rounds and never lubed this area. I wonder what an armorer would say?

About once a year or if it my AR gets really dirty (sand, mud). I use Slip2000 to clean it all up, use compressed air to blow out all the cleaner and debris. Quick wipedown with CLP and then wipe off the CLP. There’s not much to wear here. The latch and tube have metal to metal contact but that’s it, the plastic stock isn’t going to wear the tube and doesn’t need lube.
You’re a lot more likely to get rust on the carbon steel latch than you are wearing out the tube out for lack of lube (which is why I use CLP) especially in a humid area.
Inside, lube the buffer spring with CLP.
As a Military Armorer, Wipe the spring and buffer with a rag and put a light coat of CLP on it.
