Buffer tube erosion....?

Hello…

I have a POF-USA 18" upper mated with a Bushmaster lower. I’ve noticed that the bolt carrier is wearing away the buffer tube around the buffer retention pin. I understand that the bolt carrier is being forced slightly downward when opening due to the piston system, but I’m afraid that it’s going to split the tube at some point and I’m not too thrilled about replacing the tube every 5oo rounds. Has anyone else had this experience? I’ve emailed POF, but haven’t had a reply yet. I’ve seen on the forums that Bushmaster tubes are not mil-spec. Could this have anything to do with the problem?

Thanks.

Can you post a picture of it?

Probably won’t be any more satisfied, but you’ll know where you stand.

I’ll try to post a pic soon of it. I’m guessing that the alignment of the upper and lower isn’t perfect. Also, the POF bolt carrier is pushed to the rear in an asymmetric manner, so the back of the carrier is being push down a bit and that’s what hitting. POF emailed me back, and I’m hoping to sort it out. I may just need to get one of their lowers, and that’s fine. I’ts on a Bushmaster right now.

Thanks for the replies.
