Buffer for 18" Barrel and Rifle Gas System?

Just a quick question. I’m running an 18" barrel that has been cut down from a 20". I’ll be installing a collapsible stock and would like to get input as to which buffer to run.

I think the rifle system should work well with the standard carbine buffer. I’m thinking the H buffer may be a bit slow. Anyone want to share their thoughts or experiences?

This (M16A1 upper) works fine with a standard CAR buffer, with everything from 5.56 mil-spec ammo to Wolf.

FWIW, it also worked with an H buffer, but it did feel a bit sluggish. I think CAR is the way to go.

I would suggest a CAR buffer.

This is good to hear. I’ve got a standard carbine buffer on the way with a stock kit I just purchased. This will save me the hassle of needing to find a different buffer.

My CAR buffer ran best (out of an H and H2) with my M18 CMMG upper. Go with that.
