Budget lightweight carbine

I just put this one together. I tried to keep it at under $1,000 but came in a little under $1,100 without the T1 and Larue mount. I wanted something light that I could carry all day if I needed to and not feel bad about beating on. Here is a list of parts used:
-Green Mountain 16" carbine gas fluted barrel with 1/7 twist. There is a thread on it here: http://m4carbine.net/showthread.php?t=72499
-Noveske blem lower coated in desert tan moly resin.
-Stag lower parts kit with RRA 2 stage trigger.
-Aero Precision stripped upper.
-BCM Gunfighter charging handle with large latch.
-M&A CAR stock with mil-spec tube, carbine buffer and Vltor end plate for HK style hook.
-Samson Evolution 11" hand guard.
-LMT AR15 bcg.
-PWS fsc556 muzzle break/flash suppressor.
-Magpul gen 2 flip ups.
The whole rifle weighs in at 6lbs, 8.25ozs with the T1 and Larue mount.
I need to get a little trigger time with it and post back.

I had the day off work today so I went to the range and put 150 rounds through it. No problems with it and I tried a 30 round pmag, a 30 round gi mag and a HK 30 round mag. I wasn’t able to do any rapid firing due to the rules at the range. Accuracy was on par with my other carbine which has a 14.5" colt M4 barrel. I used 55gr. FMJ over 25 grains of H335. All the brass ejected at about 4 o’clock. About the only thing I see that I can improve is having the low profile gas block pinned. I’m about a half hour away from Rainier Arms and they offer this service for around 30 bucks.

Nice rifle. Hey, I have a 16 inch with a standard front sight base, would I have to remove the barrel to put that evolution on it? If I trim the FSB down I mean…Also, how do you like the Evo?

It uses a standard barrel nut so you would have to remove the delta ring if that is what you have. It can be cut off if you didn’t want to or are not able to remove the barrel. I like it so far. It lines up with the upper receiver perfectly. There is a 7" version that will work with your fsb if you want to keep it.

With the samson rail you shouldnt need to remove the barrel. They attach to the existing barrel nut and lock up pretty tight. I have 2, an 11" and a 12.37", both on 14.5 barrels with shaved FSB. Everything worked great together.

Nice build.
