Are there any low cost or “bargain” BUIS on the market for those who have a good red dot and only plan to use the BUIS as actual BACK UP sights? I’ve seen some UTG MARDRS and MARFLR on eBay for around $25 but I am hesitant…Can anyone tell me if these can be zeroed, hold a zero and/or even be reliable?

Take some time to look through the forums here, just about everything you’re asking has been discussed a few times.
If you’re short on funds, the Magpul sights are as inexpensive as I’d go.
I thought UTG (Leapers) were for “real steal”? I was browsing their website and a lot, if not most, looked like it was for REAL weapons such as railed handguards, internal parts, etc.

Midwest Industries makes for a good value in BUIS, especially if you have a Brownell’s discount.
Shivan has a good suggestion if you’re looking for a good value set of metal buis… mi is hard to beat. Magpul is the only thing I would consider if the mi was out of your price range.
I’ve broken UTG sights off of plastic airsoft guns, which I had already relegated them to - my god do those suck. Run MagPul PTS sights before those.
MBUS are by far the best - DD Fixed are the other options. I really won’t run anything other than MBUS, DD Fixed, and TROYs.
keep a eye open othe the slaes boards, most of the time you can pick up Matech sights for your $60.00
magpul mbus. Can’t go wrong. my local shop sells em for about 70 for the pair.
I think they are for sale on th ee board for $46 new in the bag. I bought one there a few months ago. I put it on my upper and have not used it yet. If you’re interested send me a PM. I have an extra Troy I plan to use.
+1 for the Matech sight if you’re on a budget. Market price is around $45.
These sight have both windage and elevation adjustments.
I think I may need to steer this topic in another direction…I realized the the term I used, BUIS, may have been different from what I am looking for. I currently have NO optics on my carbine and someone suggested that I may be looking for PRIMARY sights rather than back up sights. Are these the same or are the back ups more for longer range? I’m looking for something that I can shoot within 100m as well as past 300m.
Dont see anything wrong with the matech. Has both elev and wind. Not to many have both.

The Matech sight is a destoyer of eye protection if you run nose to charging handle and are not careful. I ruined two good pairs of eye pro on a Matech sight because I wasn’t paying attention. Regardless, it is a very good sight for the money.

I run my CTR all the way open. But it was my understanding the MATECH was marked for 200-600 meters (or yards).
You have a difficult time finding an iron sight marked under 200yards/meters, nor is there a need for that.
You’ll learn your hold overs and point of impact with use. The standard A2 sights are marked 0-200 meters for the large apeture. You just learn through use.
If you aren’t running an optic, you really need to go with fixed sights. No folding BUIS (there’s a reason they’re classified as “backup”) will be as strong or as durable as a fixed set.
