Brownell Magazine?

Good News: I should be receiving a Charles Daly D-M4 very soon!

I’m looking at two types of Brownells magazines. One says its “military spec” and has the magpul follower. The other doesnt mention “military spec” and it doesnt have the magpul follower. The price difference between the two is five bucks.

Anyone have any experience with these? And more specifically for the D-M4. Thanks!

Want to post a link to what you’re referring to?

Is this it?

Its the ranger plate on the bottom, they’re charging $5 for that

(cept they are 30 rd)

how about orlite mags?

Don’t bother with Orlites. They suck.

I’d like to know how the Brownells magazines compare to the BCM mags in terms of quality and reliability.

how about colt OEM ones? sorry for this many questions, i just wanna know which ones to order  thanks!

I would get the milspecs. I don’t want CS springs in my mags or buffer tubes.

You could always upgrade the follower later.

The Brownells are pretty much known to be GTG. Mine have been. You can get CS or SS springs, and the standard follower seems to work just fine.

Brownell’s mags are great. I actually prefer the CS springs over the SS.

Food for thought. At the Ft. Benning 3-Gun Challenge this weekend, I had 2 Magpuls fail me. My Brownell’s mags…zero issues.

What happened?

Ok, you have my complete attention. Specifically, what failed with the PMAGs???

woofe

Double feeds galore!

Seriously thought it was only due to my heavy bullets/long loaded ammo, but they were thrown 2 rounds into the chamber on 2 stages brutally! Pulled my Brownell’s mag out of the bag for the last stage that I needed the rifle on and ran without even trying on ALL my ammo and that was a mixed bag of ammo stage.

Hmmm… Maybe pmags don’t get along with longer ammo.

My son was active duty US Marine Corps in the mountains or Afganistan a couple years ago. He called home briefly about once a month and reported briefly on his conditions. His “military spec” mags were falling apart, just like much of the other worn out equiptment issued by the USMC. My son’s floor plates were falling out of the mags and he was engaged in some very intense fire fights… The USMC did not have other mags to issue and my son was using duct tape to hold his mags together.

I mailed him 10 mags from Brownells and they served him well in those and future battles. We gained the attention of the manufacturer of the Brownells magazines and my son purchased a large number directly from the manufacturer of the Brownell mags to supply his fellow gunners. I never heard a complaint and those mags had tough usage, later going to a tough area of Iraq that no one would know.

The Brownells mags never let my son or his fellow USMC buddies down. They are great mags and come from a great man that supports our military.

You can trust your sons life on them!

Mark,

I’ll be testing exactly this over the next 2-3 weeks. I’m dusting off MY 69gr. SMK load that has won me more than a few 3-Gun/Rifle matches and if it doesn’t work then I know it’s the mags. That load works in EVERY rifle that I own and have fired in.

I’ll report back. In the mean time, I seriously cannot say enough about the Brownell’s mags. I’m excited though too to try the new Fusil USA mags. They look and feel AWESOME!
