Just wanted to update the forum and to thank all the users who sent advice. I had an AR that had all kinds of feed issues. I had a gas tube/key alignment issue that I fixed and that helped but I was still experiencing about 10% FTF. Tried new mags etc and it didn’t help. I was about to strip the barrel down but my local gun shop where I bought it new asked to see it again and the armorer replaced the gas rings and that was it. Functioned perfectly.
I had purchased the upper (CMMG) and lower separately but they were both new. The upper came with a complete bolt and BCG so I have no idea why there was a ring issue. I looked at them carefully and they appeared to be thinner than what he replaced them with but at this point I don’t care, it’s working perfectly and it puts 7 inch groups at 100 with iron sights and I can’t see any better than that so I’m pretty happy.
Hummmmm now that I don’t need to spend any more money on the carbine maybe I’ll go get that ACOG that I’m drooling all over…
Thanks again forum members and I’m going to keep a few spare rings on hand now…
Good to hear you’ve got her running 100% and are happy with it. Sometimes it takes some tinkering but these guns are pretty simple really. Now buy up a bunch of ammo and start burning up some rounds.
Im running a carry handle on my BCM right now til i can save my pennies for an AimPoint T1. No hurry really as I like iron sights anyways.
I’m having fun with the iron sites too, and if I can put it in 7 inches at 100 that’s still a good shot as far as I’m concerned, but I’d really like to see how accurate it can be with hand loads and a younger set of eyes (or a scope… )
its possible to get tighter groups. Not sure what setup you have but with my 20" A2 AR I was getting 3-4" on irons on centurion .223, not match ammo. Groups would open up on a carbine with its shorter sight radius
but them again im one of those with younger eyes :o
Nice…
hell I can’t even see 2-3 inches at 100. I’m trying to figure out which of the front sites I have in my sight picture is the right one…
and NO I don’t drink and shoot…
But hey, 7" is a kill so I’m ok with that. Just want to open up the range a bit too…
