Bravo Company VG-S-KM

I thought this product deserved its own thread rather than cluttering/being buried in the KMR thread. I imagine there will be quite a bit of discussion about it, being the first toolless direct attach KeyMod accessory available.

I got my press samples of Bravo Company’s soon-to-be-released VG-S-KM. I put one on my KMR 13 next to the original Picatinny VFG-S and a Magpul RVG to make it easier to compare mounted dimensions.

One of the concerns I’ve read about is how far the skirt of the VG-S-KM extends beyond the rail. However, it actually extends less than the VFG-S and the RVG. In the hand it feels great, and it makes a lot of sense.

The toolless direct attachment system designed by Eric Kincel is fantastic. Lockup on my samples is rock solid, and each is easily put in place or removed as needed.

I will probably do a “quick look” video on these later this week just so people can see how they work. The production units may or may not have different tolerances than these units, so a true review would not necessarily convey to the product on the market in about a month. However, even if you’re not interesting in KeyMod or a vertical grip, you will be impressed with this design.

I’m no Stickman, but here are a few photos that compare the dimensions of the new VG-S-KM with the original VG-S and the Magpul RVG.

Magpul RVG, VG-S-KM, VG-S. You can see how the VG-S-KM gives an even lower profile than the VG-S, which I like. It shares the same 5deg angle and is reversible, just like the VG-S.

Here’s another look comparing the skirts of the three different grips. The VG-S-KM is actually the smallest of the bunch.

The skirt of the VG-S-KM is also closer to the handguard than either of the rail-mounted vertical grips. This improves the feel in the hand and makes a great transition from the handguard to the grip.

One last view of the skirts, showing that the skirt on the VG-S-KM is actually narrower than that of the RVG or VG-S.

One last photo showing a black VG-S-KM in the open position. The flat piece under the mounting studs is actually spring loaded, and when you press the VG onto a KeyMod panel, the space under the studs opens to mate with the slot.

How does it feel In hand when mounted on the rail?

In the hand it feels great, and the skirt makes a lot of sense when you grab it. I use a VFG as a handstop, so the transition is very important to me. When Paul first told me about this grip in the fall, the first thing I asked was, “Are you paying attention to the transition for guys like me?” His response was that they were in fact spending a lot of time on that aspect, and in the hand, you can tell.

Can’t wait to put my hands on an FDE one soon! Thank you for the review

I use VFG’s the same as you so I’m very happy to hear this.

Thanks for the overview. Pretty much as i would expect from BCM. Looks great

I don’t understand you use it like a handstop or like your avatar pic!

I thought using VFGs as a handstop meant only grabbing rail and not VFG?

Damn. I’m supposed to have one coming, but nothing yet. I may have to kick the door down on Iraqgunz’s armorers class tomorrow and borrow one of his.

You’d steal the show with your cameo appearance. :stuck_out_tongue:

It can mean whatever you want it to mean, but I mean I don’t grab the VFG, and every other person who uses their VFG like I do uses the same term. If you really were just using the very edge as a handstop, there’d be no point whatsoever in having a whole VFG at all.

Shooting starts at 2:36 in this video, and you can see a whole lot of what I’m talking about with regards to why the transition is important to me and many others who use VFGs this way.

I understand now, and thats how I use a VFG as well.

How big is the storage area of this VFG? Could you fit CR2032 or CR123 batteries in it?

I’ll disagree with this. VFGs have a lot of extra utility even if one only uses the edge as a hand stop when shooting.

Anywho, thanks for the comparison pics. Been waiting for a direct attach KM VFG for a while.

Congrats to BCM, this thing is sweet! Can’t wait to get one on my light recce.

Mine have arrived as well

Initial impressions–pretty awesome. I should have them on the range for real testing soon…

I’d love to see it mounted to a Noveske NSR!

Mine gets here tomorrow. :frowning: We ran a short range blaster session yesterday. I’d have loved to have it for that.

Getting a new shooting item on Monday is torture for the rest of the week while you wait to shoot again.

Between this thread and posts on FB and IG I’m beginning to think I’m the only one that didn’t get a preproduction sample!

Gunz got a pallet full of them. Bastard.
