I plan on getting a Troy TRX Extreme 11" rail but am not sure which gasblock I should go with? Any recommendations?

The problem is there aren’t many gas block actually AVAILABLE for the 0.625" barrel. After a long search, I found and bought the Midwest Industries gas block. It’s serving me fine in my 16" Daniel Defense lightweight barrel assembly.

Oh, and the 11" Troy TRX Extreme is super nice. :slight_smile:

I believe the BCM does not require the .625" for that very reason.

Can anyone remember how short of a length BCM plans on making their lightweights?

So someone school me. What are the advantages of a lightweight upper? Is it purely weight savings? Is the rest of the upper built to the same specs as all the other BCM uppers? I am in the market for an upper for a lower ive had in the closet for quite some time.

It’s just a pencil barrel. You don’t notice how skinny it is? :smiley:

It saves weight and should hold up just fine for the normal wear and tear, It’s the profile of yesteryear, history does repeat.

So if you’re looking for a simple light practical no BS rifle it’s a good upper for a good build. If you plan on mounting lasers and beer can holders I would go with an HBAR :stuck_out_tongue:

I was thinking about going with the Vltor Gas Block in .750" diameter because I was under the impression that is the size of the barrel at the gas port. Has anybody verified this information? From the pic it does not look to be as skinny as the DD barrel.

Also, I see that Vltor has the choice of set screw or clamp-on. Which is preferable in this situation? The gas block will be covered by the Troy rail.
