I just bought a pair of my dream boots from Amazon: a pair of Scarpa Kinesis Pro GTX backpackers. However, upon receiving them, I noticed one of the leather pieces had a bunch of crinkles in it, and possibly some cracks. It just looks dried out or something. I’m thinking about sending them back for an exchange, but heck, this could be standard fare or I may get boots that look/are worse.
Could anyone help me verify? Is this something I should be worried about? It’s especially worrisome because none of the other leather looks like this.
The leather does not look cracked to me. It appears to be normal for leather that is located in a flex point. How does the leather feel to the touch? Is it supple or dry and rough?
If those were my boots, I wouldn’t think twice about that spot. I would rub some good oil into all the leather to keep it supple.
Looks normal to me. The easiest way to tell in that location would be to bend it in the opposite direction and see if the leather’s surface is separated.
perfectly normal. That leather looks like it came from a different animal or was treated differently for purpose. Its perfect. Rock on with those leather boots.
