Boyt Tactical Rifle Case - any thoughts?

I’m looking for a case for my 16" Daniel Defense DDM4 with T-1 optic. This Boyt looks interesting:

Boyt Tactical Rifle Case

Does anyone have experience with their products or this case, specifically? I’d be getting the 36" in either black or OD green.

Comparison with other favorites such as the Eagle Discreet, Tactical Tailor, Blackhawk, etc. are welcome.

Thanks,
Mike

I don’t have that specific case, but have purchased a number of items from Boyt. Overall, Boyt quality is always high and comparable with Black Hawk. They might not be quite as bombproof as TT and Eagle, as they seem to skew more to commerical hunting items, but the quality is consistently high.

I’ve been using the same Boyt duffel bag for 40-50 airline flights and hundreds of nights on the road over 12 years. I believe this was bag was assembled in Guatemala or Belize (IIRC) but comparable quality to their higher-priced sewing done in the states.

Thanks for the input. There are so many options for cases out there I find it easy to get confused, especially considering it is near impossible to compare products side-by-side.

depends what you’ll be using it for. I was all set to buy a boyt from DSG ($120) until i saw the latches. They are metal and require twisting and a few other annoying things before you can open the case. I went with a Pelican 1720 instead

I have that very case, in green. I bought it a couple of years ago, but I don’t remember paying $132 for it. It has served me pretty well. Although I have to break down my carbine IOT store it(16 inch barrel.), the inside is very adjustable to what your storage needs are. It came with four magazine pouches that are weaved into the inside via PALS webbing, which in a pinch, you can remove them from the case, and weave them onto a plate your plate carrier or something like that, if need be. IMO, it’s not the greatest case for an extended range trip, as there isn’t too much more room for much more that your rifle, some mags, and a few other small items. If I were gonna pay that much, I would personally go for a Storm Case or a Pelican, in which I could store my carbine without the need to break it down, as well as some ammo and mags, and put locks on it.
