They are really nice and well built. I have one on my backup competition rifle. The lightened carrier does a couple of things. While it speeds up the cycling rate a little, the biggest benefit you’ll see is less muzzle rise.
For a seriously sweet combo, you can run a JP buffer and stock rifle length buffer spring (if a rifle length buffer tube).
Not a requirement, but you might want to invest in an adjustable gas block too. Just to help dial the gas system for your loads. Again, not a requirement.
Too, if you get and don’t like it…PM me.

It depends on what type of AR you are putting together. The light weight carriers IMHO are for race guns- not fighting guns.
If you are building a fighting gun, and want a chrome one, Young Mfg. makes a standard weight M16 BCG with MPI bolt.
Personally, I would leave those LW Carriers alone.
Grant has his G&R bolt carrier groups.

I bought a pair of the lower parts kits he put together, and they are top notch. I have one running in a Charles Daly lower, and the trigger on it feels very nice.
Shoot him an email or call him, he’ll hook a brother up. ![]()
