We designed a set of sights that are truly low profile.
Design requirements—
1-Low as possible
2-Durable
3-Locks on opening
4-Fits under optics/mounts
5-Lightweight
We designed a side pivot mechanism for strength and the lowest possible profile that will remain durable. The side pivot has internal detents, and we also incorporated a drive pin lock system. You must depress a button to fold them back down.
How much does each sight weigh? 1.7oz for the pair is lighter than the current lightest sights: Spikes Tactical micro sights (aluminum) = 1.9oz pair 1oz rear w/ adjustable elevation and .9oz front.
Dang, didn’t know about those! That is really, really light. Different class of material, I don’t think I would go to war with them (or the Spikes for that matter) but nonetheless interesting, effective design for maybe a hunting rifle or dedicated night-stand carbine. How do you like them?
They’re a bit bulky, but I generally like them. Apparently they were released for only a very short while and then some issues were discovered so they were taken off the market. Mine have some minor issues (rear sight spring doesn’t have quite enough tension to keep the sight in the full upright position sometimes) and when I asked MFT about it they said to send them in (I haven’t sent them yet) and that they’d send me a new revision which is supposed to be coming out very soon. If they address the minor issues I’ll be plenty happy with them.
