Blue Force Gear/Vickers Sling ???

Greetings !
I have a RRA M4 that i just put a Blue Force Gear/Vickers Combat sling on. I was hoping someone out there would have pics of their set up on the gun and in use. I had a couple issues…

First one was that the directions they sent were a different set up than the pics on the website. The directions had the buckle near the butt. That didn’t work since the strap wasn’t long enough. Anyway i figured that out, but when i got it adjusted to where it was comfortable for me i had a ton of slack. The excess runs almost up to the middle junction. When i was testing i was just wearing regular clothes since this is how i normally shoot. I wasn’t wearing body armour etc… Are the straps just long so they will go over gear?

Thanks

Geoff

Remember that the sling is meant to go over heavy armor as well as cold weather gear, and fat people, or sometimes a combination of the above.

Its not uncommon to have excess sling material, and if its so much that it get in the way, you may want to cut it down. Just remember that you probably want to take off as little as possible to avoid any problems down the road. You don’t want to cut it down too short, then find out you really needed it longer for a different configuration.

Leave the extra material on until you’ve used the sling for awhile. Ask me how I know.

Geoff-

Instead of cutting off the slack maybe try and just tape it up for now. That way you can change it if need be until you are positive that you have it adjusted to your liking.

I got one on the cheap with some fraying on the buttstock end. Will have a ?about later. How was this sling designed to be used? Tight when standing around or running, but lengthened for shooting? Can’t imagine that this sling was meant to be tight like competition long range rifle shooting. Can the fraying be trimmed and heated to prevent further fraying?

For a righty, does it go over the right shoulder and under the left arm" Or under the right arm and over the left shoulder? I have it in sling loops at left side of barrel by end of rail, by FSB, and on the plastic loop on RRA six position stock.

Any info would be most certainly appreciated. I realize it will have to be adjusted for winter clothing, extra gear, but how are you doing it? I too would like to see a well padded section about 12" around neck area.

Thank You Sigfest–Bill

Larry explained to me that the sling is designed that with the slider tightened all the way you should still be able to shoulder the rifle normally. This is with just a T-shirt.

As you don more clothing/armor/LBE you let the slider out as required.

That’s exactly how he explained it this past weekend as well.

Some of us listen!
